I'm Staci, a complex trauma consultant.
With survivor-informed strategies and insights, I help organizations better reach and serve people with all degrees of trauma.
Improve Services for Victims & All Humans
I Speak Native Complex Trauma
With a C-PTSD diagnosis and an ACEs score of 8, I’m a complex trauma consultant and expert who never sat in a classroom to learn about trauma. I’m not a clinician…I’m a technician. For example, I am a member of the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) Speakers Bureau who has helped organizations like the United States Marine Corps improve their victim services.
Clinicians will always speak “trauma” with an accent, which is why it’s so crucial that brands and organizations working with vulnerable populations incorporate survivor-led perspectives, solutions, and consulting. It’s healing and empowering when the complex trauma space is informed by lived experience and the voices from the trenches.
I audit organizations like schools, churches, medical facilities, the military, nonprofits, and private companies to see how trauma survivors may be unintentionally under-served. I find the barriers to access–the hurdles to healing–and strategize how to reduce or remove them.
I’m also a published author, former legal aid advocate, and certified victim and sexual assault advocate. Because Complex-PTSD is an acquired form of neurodivergence, I think differently than other people. I see the creative solutions and marginalized perspectives that others miss, adding a deeper layer to my consulting. Over the past two decades, I’ve helped mental health providers, mission-driven organizations, and others open their doors even wider.

About Staci
I think about the overwhelming bravery of this pig-tailed warrior constantly. Every time I clip a lapel mic on before giving a keynote presentation to a standing-room-only crowd, she’s with me. The day I walked across the stage at the University of Redlands with a gold cord draped from my neck, my soul sang for her. When I first flipped the “Open” sign over at my award-winning startup, I caught her eye and smiled. When my book received its first 5-star review on Amazon, I kissed her on the forehead and whispered, “You did it.”
That skinny 7-year-old didn’t know it at the time, but the creative thinking required for her to survive childhood was actually rewiring her brain. Now, as an adult, I understand that my acquired neurodivergence actually primed me for thought leadership, despite making so many other things harder. When I developed my own work systems or experienced success with my professional projects, it didn’t seem that remarkable. For me, mingling or calling a customer service rep is far more intimidating.
In 1987, when I stood up to read my story about a girl who slayed a monster, my head was barely visible over the podium. But my voice was strong. However, it wasn’t until the “American Bar Association Journal” published my critical letter at age 22 or until my mentor came to me for consulting that I finally understood, finally trusted the power of that voice.

Complex Trauma Consulting FAQs
Have questions about complex trauma consulting? Your answers await!
What is complex trauma?
Complex trauma has been referred to a trauma “by a thousand cuts.” According to the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, “Complex trauma describes both children’s exposure to multiple traumatic events—often of an invasive, interpersonal nature—and the wide-ranging, long-term effects of this exposure. These events are severe and pervasive, such as abuse or profound neglect. They usually occur early in life and can disrupt many aspects of the child’s development and the formation of a sense of self.” Additionally, complex trauma causes brain changes like an overactive amygdala and underactive hippocampus, along with cellular alterations involving immune cells, and stress hormone pathways.
Who hires a complex trauma consultant?
I work with:
-
Therapists & private practices
-
Mental health organizations
-
Coaches and healers
-
Nonprofits serving survivors
-
Ethical brands that want to be more trauma-informed in their messaging, content, and systems (schools, medical facilities, churches, nonprofits, the military)
What does a complex trauma consultant do?
A complex trauma consultant helps individuals, teams, or organizations understand how complex trauma differs from simple trauma. This includes education on trauma responses (fight, flight, freeze, fawn), nervous system impacts, brain changes, safe practices, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) scores, and systems design that prioritizes access, consistency, trust, and transparency.
How is complex trauma different from “regular” trauma?
Complex trauma is usually relational, meaning it occurs in relationships with other humans (unlike trauma from surviving a plane crash or your house burning down). While single-event trauma might involve an accident or one-time assault, complex trauma stems from repeated harm, especially in childhood like on-going neglect, sexual assault, child abuse, living with a narcissist or alcoholic, or institutional betrayal. The effects are deeper, more layered, and often show up in areas like attachment, identity, emotional regulation, and relationships.
Do I have to be a therapist to work with you?
While I have definitely served as a complex trauma coach for therapists, I work with anyone and any organization that is interested in creating a more human-centered organization. From life coaches and nonprofits to victim advocates and counselors, my goal is a more trauma-informed world for all.
What’s the difference between “trauma-aware” and “trauma-informed”?
Think of it like this:
-
Trauma-aware: “I know trauma exists.”
-
Trauma-informed: “I’ve changed how I act, design, and communicate based on what I know about trauma.”
I help providers and organizations shift from awareness to integration.
Can you help me if I have C-PTSD or PTSD?
Yes! I also live with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and structure all of my services to be neurodivergent-affirming and flexible. Sometimes people with childhood trauma just need a fellow Complex-PTSD expert to talk to–I get it!
